The Nike MAG is one of the most important shoes in sneaker history, and up until recently, the model only existed fictionally in Back to the Future II. It took Nike decades to make E.A.R.L. technology a reality with a limited run of auto-lacing Nike MAGs auctioned off with proceeds going to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Alzheimer’s research.
This past weekend at Comic Con San Diego, one of the original Nike MAG sneakers worn by Michael J. Fox’s Marty McFly character was showcased by Prop Store, a movie memorabilia auction house that will be bringing the rare find to auction later this year. This MAG didn’t come equipped with auto-lacing all the way back then, but the fact that the prop was actually featured in the movie should make some movie and sneaker fanatics alike willing to pay the expected $32,000 – $45,000 to own the piece of history. We’ll keep you updated on how much this Marty McFly-worn Nike MAG fetches at auction later in the year. Stay tuned.
