Ross Dwyer Nike’s React Element 55 is an interesting sneaker. Borrowing the cored-out midsole of the React Element 87 and repurposing design lines from heritage Nike kicks like the Internationalist, the Element 55 offers a unique combination of old and new at an extremely reasonable price point. Now, it’s released in a new “Metallic Gold” colorway that’s sure to delight fine metal lovers the world over. A light olive drab is called upon for the base color, and cork-like wheat suede covers the tongue and throat. However, the most noticeable design piece is unquestionably the shimmering metallic gold that appears on the large midfoot swoosh and heel detailing.
