Nike Adds A Cartoon Crab To The Air Max 95

Nike has displayed an interesting propensity for adorning their classics with animal kingdom-inspired graphics as of late: after adding a playful frog to the SB Blazer via a collaboration with Frog Skateboards, they’ve now premiered a cartoon crab-crested take on the Air Max 95. Dressed in black, reddish-orange, and white, the upper’s quartet of anatomy-inspired panels opt for a dark tone with speckled detailing on the top half before giving way to bright red-orange patent leather and smooth white leather on the bottom half. Further hot orange accents adorn the lace loops, but the shoe’s most unusual detail is undeniably the cheesing crustacean embroidered on the reflective tongue — one whose smile is provided by a cleverly placed Swoosh. The insoles opt for a nautical blend of blue and yellow that’s potentially inspired by the packaging of a popular seafood seasoning, and the shoe is then completed by a white midsole with contrasting Air Max cushioning units. Grab a comprehensive look below, and expect these unusual Maxes to release on Nike.com for $170 later this spring season.
