For the uninitiated, the Nike Air Force 1’s “Color of the Month” program began in the mid-1980s as an initiative to raise interest for Bruce Kilgore’s design, which was in risk of being discontinued if it wasn’t for three Baltimore-based retailers.
Recently, the low-top trim of Kilgore’s 40-year-old creation emerged in handfuls of straightforward reissues of the initiative’s drops. The Air Force 1 Mid, which has historically been ostracized by old school sneaker collectors, is the latest proposition to join the “Color of the Month” series. For its inaugural entry, the silhouette has indulged in an all-“Summit White” arrangement. Jewel profile swooshes and semi-translucent outsoles deliver some contrast into the style, as does traditional Nike branding across the upper. Lastly, as has been the case with the ’80s initiative’s rebirth, the mid-top trim arrives with a tooth brush for on-the-go cleaning.
Enjoy official images of the pair ahead, and anticipate a Nike.com launch soon.
