Over the last year, the Swoosh has gone all-in on offering sneaker designs from the 1980s. One such model has been the Nike Gamma Force, which recently appeared in “White” and “Desert Berry.”
Based on court footwear from decades past, the silhouette delivers a sleek, old school aesthetic to women. Other competitors have found unprecedented success with their own offerings informed by performance models from the ’80s, and Nike has packaged its own heritage in the Gamma Force with high aspirations. It’s still early in the sneaker’s life cycle, but the shoe has been victim to consumers being either fatigued with the old school low-top design – the Swoosh even saturated the market with the Nike Dunk – or accusations of trend-following. Nevertheless, the women’s sneaker offers a versatile look given its various overlays, clean profile, and accessible price point.
