While EYBL events typically pit up-and-coming hoopers against one another, this week’s festivities take a bit of a different tenor. While still assembling some of the nation’s brightest young talent, the EYBL Basketball Academy focuses on skill development rather than direct competition, spearheaded by current and former NBA talent to shepherd them along their journey to the league. Of course, with the Swoosh’s full efforts behind this endeavor, there’s some special edition footwear that comes along with the occasion. The latest to get a full showcase is the girls’ Nike EYBL Sabrina 2 PE.
The full shoe gets a sprightly makeover, combining light purple shades with overwhelming rose tones on the upper. While the chief draw of this PE is the colorway, its spring atmosphere not yet touched by mainline Sabrina 2 releases, Beaverton creatives ensured some sentimental value for those who receive it. Several nods to the EYBL program appear throughout the shoe, with a gold wax seal on the tongue, spell-out “EYBL Fam’ Reunion” text at the heel and “ROOTS” embroidered towards the forefoot.
For our purposes, the footwear obviously always reigns supreme with each event on the EYBL calendar, but it’s worth noting just how significant the ongoings are for those in attendance. Just in the early goings, Derek Lively, Theo Pinson and Rasheed Wallace have made appearance to pass down knowledge to the next generation. Per the last report on EYBL alumni in the league, over 120 NBAers had EYBL events in their past, with names like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis among the highlights.
While this Sabrina 2 EYBL PE won’t release to the public, they’re still plenty interesting even as an outside observer. Catch detailed images just ahead.
