Jordan Brand has a new unisex basketball shoe on the way; the Jordan Heir 1.0. We got a first glimpse at the silhouette earlier this summer, and now the arrival of official images provides our most detailed look to date, also hinting that a release may come sooner rather than later.
Women Jordan Brand athletes had a heavy hand in designing the new shoe, incorporating on-court insights into the process. Given the meteoric rise of the WNBA, it appears unisex hoops shoes are a newfound focal point for Nike Inc. The Nike Sabrina 2 was the company’s first unisex basketball shoe and has been extraordinarily successful thus far, and now with the Jumpman following suit with the Heir, we might be witnessing the first stages of a new trend.
According to Jordan Brand, Kiki Rice played a key role in providing insights to the women’s game, although the Heir 1.0 is fit for any baller.
Aesthetically speaking, the Heir 1.0 lends a slight Russell Westbrook shoe feel with an ambitious mixed-media upper. Two different types of mesh appear on the toe box and lower quarter, while leather panels appears near the forefoot and eyelets. The first thing that catches the eyes, however, is a bulky wrap-around TPU cage that touches the eyelets and outsole. Full-length foam and herringbone traction appear underfoot, but we’re still waiting on Jordan Brand to unveil full performance specs at the time of this writing. This tonal “Grey/White” colorway seems like an appropriate introductory pair, taken with cream-colored mesh for a bit of sophistication.
Release information isn’t available yet, but the Jordan Heir 1.0 could very well arrive before the end of the WNBA regular season in late September. In any case, know that this page as well as our Jordan Release Dates hub will display all the most current details.
