Though the whimsical Vault Boy might be single most recognizeable character from Bethesda’s Fallout video games, fans of the series know its signature aesthetic is post-nuclear-apocalyptic. This look inspired Jacob Patterson’s latest Nike Dunk High custom, a piece he titled ‘Vault Dweller’ and paired with a bomb casing sculpture that doesn’t just serve as a sick sneaker stand. It’s also a speaker for the two jailbroken iPod Touch devices embedded in each shoe’s tongue as a tribute to the PipBoy 2000 Personal Information Processor. The PIP-Boy got upgraded to 3000 in the recent New Vegas release; does this ‘Vault Dweller’ custom represent a similar leap for handcrafted sneaker designs?
