Every year since 2003, Nike has teamed up with the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) for the Doernbecher Freestyle, a charitable event that provides many a young creative the opportunity to create their very own sneaker. And though typically done on a variety of different silhouettes, this year’s selection is poised to look far different from the last in more ways than one.
Though most of the details are relatively under wraps, all will be revealed during the event’s upcoming virtual showcase. Come February 25th, an hour-long livestream will kick off with word from the alumni patient-designers. Then, the viewers, who have access to the stream free of charge, will be provided the option to donate in support of the organization. Also, everyone in attendance will be among the very first to see and bid on the limited, special-edition offering — a singular shoe that commemorates 17 years of Doernbecher Freestyle by combining 14 different designs.
For now, all we can do is sit tight. Expect images and a detailed Nike News post to surface following the February 25th viewing. To register for the livestream, be sure to head over to the official Doernbecher Freestyle Landing Page.
