A few nights ago we left our readers a nice Air Jordan VI Infrared vs. Varsity Red comparison, and a surprising amount of readers warmed up to the White/Varsity Red colorway that is set to drop in June. Many acclaimed the white leather upper as the key component of that Retro, making the off-by-a-few Varsity Red color-blocking an afterthought. Here’s a comparison of the the black counterpart of the AJVI, pitting the January 2010 retro with the Infrared that is set to drop as part of the Air Jordan VI Infrared Pack. Unfortunately the Infrared Retro doesn’t stay true to its roots, as a suede upper is used in favor of Durabuck that gave the 2000 retro a more ‘solid’ feel. I REALLY LIKE BOTH BUT FOR THE BLACK 6 IMMA HAVE TO GIVE IT TO THE INFRARED.. NOW FOR THE WHITE 6S I GIVE IT TO THE VARSITY RED

even tho im a sneakerhead, i was going to sacrifice logic, and buy the infra pack, because i thought that they wud look just like the 2000′s with nubuck….. ok, i settled for the var reds. cuz i thought it wud be the closest thing i got to the infra colorway, now they come out with sum more sueade bull shit. Its funny that some of y’all think suede is a lower quality material compared to Durabuck. Durabuck is a cheaper man made material…but I do agree that if you’re gonna retro an OG colorway use the correct materials which is Durabuck. Anyways, JB been doin’ it wrong for a while now so I’m not trippin….

its funny that no one realizes that JB is releasing this pack simply because of all the people bitching about changing the red when the blk/varsitys came out…people saying “they look fake blah blah blah”. and now that it does release, bitches are still crying over it. the reason why JB doesn’t use “NIKE AIR” on the shoes is probably the same reason why the same material isn’t used…
it’s to protect the value of the OGs and earlier retros. stop bitching because you decided to settle for the varsity reds.

i agree with “Horse”! i mean seriously. if they’re gonna use the same materials as the varsity reds from january, why pay another $310 just to get these? that’s paying $310 more to have a little more white added to the same paint cans they used to paint the varsitys with. for a few shades brighter red. that’s stupid.
eff it. i’m sticking to completing my own “varsity red” pack. the white/varsity reds are still hot to me.

Okay thanks to this comparison and all of the feedback on it I trully think dat anyone claiming that infared is “better” is a fuckin idiot. I mean forreel, infared is just a lil brighter so how does it make it better?,either way its red.#28 and #38 i completely agree, and #37 its opinion, not fact but i agree with everything else u said. O if u alredy have the varsity reds, y get these?, Its just a slight color change.

Actually, by using suede instead of Durabuck, the upper will last years longer and not start cracking up and peeling after 4 to 5 years. Anyone who owned the Durabuck upper 6s like the og Infrareds knows what I’m talking about. The suede is a better and more durable upper material and I would prefer that.

ok. we kno that the suede is a better material, but the nubuck is darker and makes the infrared pop more…… thats why the retro looks so good. The suede does not work for the infrareds cuz they look ashy. that was my main problem with my var. reds, and thats the reson i’ve only worn them one time. Look, like people have been saying, theres no reason to buy this pack, because its nothing but a diff shade of red. Hell, the shade is so close, the amount of light could change how each shoes is percevied. NO THESE WONT HAVE NIKE AIR ON THE BACK!!! if these were the 2000′s and didnt have the nike air, i wud be fine with that. but yea its a wrap for these. Will i kinda want these on release day? sure. thats with a lot of kicks, but i gotta stay true to my word. THEN AGAIN, this is prolly a sample, so if they change it back ill be fine.(sry for the mispelled word and shit, but im in class, and bored.)

My 2000 Infrared are done..so i would hace to get this pack ..i coop the varsity red too.I think suede is better quality than nubuck…it crease less,if you got the correct product to clean and protect it would last longer…Also i would coop the white/varsity red 6..but i wish the were nubuck so they would be dif from the b/varsity red and not only the red cw and air bubble..but suede would do…for me.

by releaseing the varsity red then comparing it side by side with the infrared, it tells you how overated the infrareds are…many people prefer the varsity red over the infrared cuz its a easier look to it..infrared might have been the “thing” a couple of years ago, maybe it not now. And yea JB is pissing off their wannabe og heads but I actually think they are doing it for the better cause,suede is more durable on the 6s nubuck cracks , the cut on the 11s has a better fit. You gotta realized JB is a sports company not fashion so improving performance is their #1 goal not how the shoes look. I mean you guys are lucky that JB is even listening to your thoughts and retroing your favorites. Other companys would move on and make better shoes.

OK HERE IS THE DILEMMA… WHY GO FOR THE INFRAREDS JUST FOR THE HISTORY BEHIND THEM? ANYONE WILL ADMIT THAT VARSITY RED MAY ACTUALLY LOOK BETTER THAN INFRARED. IF IM FAVORING THE INFRAREDS JUST BECAUSE OF A LITTLE CHANGE IN THE SHADE OF RED, THEN I SHOULD BE GETTING THE “NIKE AIR” ON THE HEEL AS WELL IF IM CONCERNED ABOUT HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE.

i love the VI’s those are my second favorite j’s of all time and especially this colorway but the suede just loks ashy to me im not saying i wont cop since im 17 and ive just started collecting last year these are like my grails besides the white/cement IVs but to me at least JB is re releasing these so people like me can get them thanks Jb even though nubuck/durabuck looks way better
