Earlier today, Sneaker News showed you the Air Jordan 8.0 and Nike Zoom Hyperdunk 2011 Supreme from the Carrier Classic Pack – a set of sneakers that will be worn by the players of the UNC Tar Heels and Michigan State Spartans during Friday evening’s season opener. Alongside the two sneakers is the Carrier Classic Collection by Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball; both team jerseys feature the digital camouflage detailing with special team-specific graphics on the rear side of the jersey. Both jerseys are made with recycled polyester; for a point of reference, each full jersey uses thirty-six plastic bottles. The Carrier Classic jerseys are just a precursor to a lengthy plan set by Nike and Jordan Brand; in 2011, they expect to double its usage of recycled polyester, diverting more than 440 million plastic bottles from waste landfills. In addition to the Fall 2011 NCAA uniforms, the Spring 2012 Platinum Elite uniforms will continue usage of recycled materials, with its Elite short being made entirely of plastic bottles. Continue reading for a detailed look at the Carrier Classic uniforms and kicks and be sure to tune into the game tomorrow at 7:00 PM EST.
