Ricky Powell’s words above describing his work celebrating Pony’s 40th anniversary help to shed light on the popularity of sneaker collabs. A good portion of the appeal beyond collecting limited edition luxury goods is the implication that, when a brand or designer near to your heart contributes to a sneaker design you love, you’re getting very close to your own artistic expression of this middle ground. On the other hand, this pack of cap-toed Pony Vintage Slam Dunks and accompanying clothing and accessories is clearly Mr. Powell’s handiwork, everything from the waxed canvas uppers to the ‘Do You’ tagline resonating with Ricky’s personal outlook.
