The deep history of Michael Jordan’s eventful career has enough stories to last another lifetime, but the upcoming retelling of the Johnny Kilroy tale might be one of the most entertaining in recent memory! Jordan Brand relives Michael’s first retirement by bringing back the Air Jordan IX – Michael’s first ‘retirement’ sneaker- inspired by ‘Johnny Kilroy’, the fictional identity that Michael assumed in order to return to basketball as quietly as possible. We’re already familiar with the Silver/Black/Red colorway of the sneaker, but these new photos reveal two amusing details – Kilroy’s #4 jersey stitched on the heel an the ‘Kilroy Kicks Butt’ embroidered on the inner face of the tongue.
