The Los Angeles Lakers secured a more favorable first round playoff matchup by winning in overtime Wednesday night. But even if LA has a better chance against San Antonio than they probably would against Oklahoma City, there’s just no replacing the winningest member of Nike Basketball’s signature shoe lineup. Lakers fans will have to put their trust in Dwight Howard, Steve Blake and company, with new Nike Kobe 8 System colorways like this sick purple gradient edition in the unprecedented position of releasing while the Black Mamba is on the mend. It’s a shame we won’t see these Court Purple Kobe 8s live up to the ‘Playoffs’ tag they’d garnered earlier, but as you can see in more photos below, this is a superb colorway for both on-court and casual purposes. These will hit select retailers in just over two weeks, so stick with Sneaker News for updates as we approach the Saturday, May 11th release date.

Please tell me if these are limited or not. I NEED a pair! I really hope these are a general release
Oh, the Lakers would not have done a damned thing with Kobe Bryant. In fact, I hope that the Lakers make a good run without his ass, with Dwight Howard leading the way. That, would be so apropos.
That said, this shoe sucks, walking around looking like Barney the dinosaur.
super pumped for this drip but a total buzz kill to be honest! shoot! like the 7 seed and the fact if dantoni pulled kb on friday they would be in the WCF at the least! WTF!
your absolutley right... If kobe wasnt playing they "would not have done a damned thing". They'd be watching this saturday at home NACL, like you.
@Longstroke Sick of seeing Barney and Ronald McDonald references. The shoes look good. Gradient detail is a nice touch. I don't care for the 7 or 8 models, but I do like the colorways, such as this one
@Jonathan Broder highly doubt that
