Back in January, Packer Shoes kicked off the ten year anniversary of their Teaneck, NJ store with the release of their first ever ASICS collaboration. Rather than taking the safe route and opting for one of the brand’s more established silhouettes, Packer chose to explore new ground by giving the newly re-introduced Gel-Kayano Trainer its first collaborative whirl with the “All Roads Lead to Teaneck” concept – a theme that paid tribute to the shop’s loyal customers and their decade strong eagerness to travel from all over to make their way to the store.
At the very end of the promo video for the initial pair, Packer gave a little tease that there would be more Kayanos to come when a second pair was spotted getting off a bus in front of the store. Yesterday, Packer gave the latest sneak peek by way of a video teaser on Instagram and now, they’ve given SN SELECT the green light to finally give the world a look at the follow-up installment of the “All Roads…” pack.
While the first shoe gave a nod to the journey, the second acknowledges those who have made the trek via mass transit. With all the major roads and highways that spill into Packer Shoes’ doorstep, there are several public transit routes that drop off devoted shoppers on the regular. The Vol. 2 Kayano reps for a recognizable New Jersey institution, taking its color inspiration from the NJ Transit buses that make stops in front of the store all day long.
With a combination of supple pigskin suede mixed with original Kayano elements like the mesh underlay and neoprene bootie, Packer’s second offering follows the lead of the first in terms of materials, but the lush color palette solidifies an identity all its own. These will be arriving at Packer Shoes in the very near future, so stay tuned for release details and enjoy our exclusive preview gallery in the meantime.
Love the color choice on these. I wish they had a mesh toe box, but the materials chosen are still quality
