Jordan Brand continues to make major steps towards extending their dominance beyond just the basketball category. Granted, the brand has long since created models meant for more than your standard on-court activities, but those previous attempts haven’t really made an impact like those that we’ve seen in 2014. They’ve shown that they can build buzz around a more sportswear type casual design with the Jordan Future, which was a sellout success at its debut and has more on the way. They’re planning on tackling the running realm with the Jordan Flight Runner that’s coming for May. But perhaps the toughest sell of them all is the luxury-leaning Jordan Shine, which we’ve got a detailed look at courtesy of Project Blitz.
The $400 price tag makes it the most expensive single sneaker MSRP-wise that we’ve ever seen from Jordan Brand by a large margin (not counting Pack releases or other specialty all-in-one drops like the Air Jordan 4 “Thunder” and more). That pinnacle price is there because the sneaker isn’t really intended for the same set that your standard pair of Retros is. The model seems geared a bit more towards the grown up sneaker enthusiast and those who aren’t afraid of paying several hundred dollars box price for a luxury design, and the fact that Barney’s is the only confirmed retail spot so far says a lot about the target consumer. We’ve got a first detailed look at the premium remix that is the Jordan Shine so continue on and stay tuned to Sneaker News for more detailed release info as soon as it’s available.
