twitter conversations adidas making moves Twitter Conversations: Is adidas Making The Right Moves?

You’ve heard plenty this year about the efforts of adidas, and how that brand is “back” as a result of their ongoing moves in recruiting new talent and nailing modern designs. Much noise has already been made about the partnerships planned from the powerful trio of Kanye, Pharrel, and Nigo. The brand has had no shortage of major hits this year in terms of new footwear – the adidas ZX Flux and the various BOOST models are slowly becoming ubiquitous on the lifestyle side of things. On top of those developments, word got out today that the brand has just acquired top Nike designers Denis Dekovic, Marc Dolce, and Mark Miner, and will be opening up a new “creative design studio” in Brooklyn as the home of this new talent.

Did you hear that Stan Smith is collaborating with adidas on the Stan Smith? Yes you read that correctly, the man that that signature sneaker was originally designed for is circling around for a special edition this year. That’s definitely strange territory for a pair of team up sneakers, as those sorts of projects are usually reserved for sneaker boutiques, artists, and the ever-dubious crowd of “influencers”. kanye main 02b 1 A Sneaker by Sneaker Breakdown of Kanye Wests Footwear Influence

It’s almost impossible to ignore the massive influence that Kanye West has had on the sneaker industry and the way its consumers choose their products. His footwear selections and tendencies were quickly imprinted into the collective conscious of his fanbase, but more importantly, they sent the industry as a whole back to the drawing board in an effort to bring products that aligned with his thinking. Of course, the pop culture megastar was just like everyone else when the sneaker culture was in its neophytic stages; he merely wore what he liked, steadily rotating Air Jordans, Air Max 1s, and Air Force 1s, but as his career began to “touch the sky”, so did his personal tastes.

kanye west adidas zx 850 2006 Ibn Jasper Reveals Kanye Wests First adidas Sneaker Design from 2006

The matter of Kanye West and the adidas ZX 850 is sort of a confusing one. Kanye associate Ibn Jasper previously claimed that the sneaker was the first ever Kanye x adidas design, created back in 2006. But when that news broke, some industry folk claimed that that wasn’t the case, as the 850 made its debut in the James Bond-designed David Beckham adidas collection. Take a look at the bone grey creation below and tell us in the comments if you think this is a slept-on Kanye sneaker.
