KOBE STILL C.0 original Kobe Comeback by Nike Basketball

Kobe Bryant is back. Of course he didn’t have to come back, the man already had countless accolades to his name (Look no further than the Kobe Prelude Pack for proof of that). He could have rested on the laurels of his HoF career and his five championships, but that’s not Kobe. Nike Basketball is of course celebrating his return-they just debuted this new Kobe Comeback spot that captures his fighting spirit courtesy of a little poetic narration by Ice Cube. Continue reading to see the spot and remember while Kobe is wearing the Nike Zoom Kobe 1 prelude for tonight’s game, he’ll debut the Nike Kobe 9 Elite a little closer to the sneaker’s February release.

Where Design Meets Art: The Nike Kobe 9 – Media Event Recap

December 4th, 2013 by | 18 comments

nike kobe 9 event recap summary Where Design Meets Art: The Nike Kobe 9 Media Event Recap

The most general schools of thought would suggest that a player at age thirty-five, one who just half a year ago suffered a season-ending injury, would be thinking of retirement. After all, Kobe has enough accolades for two, maybe three Hall of Famers of the American-born sport, but nothing is ever really enough for an athlete with such an intense (maybe excessive) competitive spirit. It goes without saying that Kobe is indeed a remarkable athlete – one that is yet to close the book that has been scripted so marvelously for nearly two decades. He just signed a two year extension with the Los Angeles Lakers, and as he nears 100% health, he’ll be ready to suit up in the chase for a sixth Championship ring in a brand new sneaker called the Nike Kobe 9.

Nike Kobe 9

kobe 9 december release Nike Kobe 9

After five straight models with low-cut construction, the next Kobe shoe – the Kobe 9 – will divert from that path. This first look at the Nike Kobe 9 with a mid-cut construction certainly breaks away from what the Nike Kobe line had firmly accomplished in years prior, bringing in a fresh take on a mid-cut shoe with the boot-like build. Although it is possible that this version here is just one trim of the signature sneaker (a lower cut version may very well be available), it certainly is interesting to see Nike take on a different approach late in his career. We recently saw Kobe rock the 8 in a team practice so the added height may not even be necessary for the Black Mamba.

Aside from the form of the Kobe 9, let’s take a quick run through the obvious details; Engineered Mesh returns on the upper, giving the shell a unique appearance and some interesting colorway possibilities, and a carbon-fiber laden midsole should add even more lightweight advantages for the Lakers star as he approaches the final years of his career. In addition to the possibility of a lower cut version like that wear-test sample we showed you months ago, rumors of Flyknit on the Kobe continue to remain rampant, which deems the Kobe 9 the most technologically advanced Nike basketball shoe ever made. Stay tuned for more updates on the Nike Kobe 9 and let us know what you think in the comments below.

nike zoom kobe ii retro Nike Kobe 2 Retro

It looks like Kobe beat LeBron to the punch in the Retro category because the Nike Zoom Kobe II, Kobe Bryant’s second signature shoe with Nike, will be headed for a return next month. We’re getting a first look at a new Grey lux Retro colorway that features a marble-like graphic on the upper. A signature Retro for either Kobe and LeBron was due, but it’s surprising that it was the Mamba and not the King that got the first jump. Your thoughts on the Retro? Check out the extra photo below and stay tuned for more release dates.

Nike Zoom Huarache 2k4 – Kobe Bryant Look-See Sample

August 5th, 2013 by | 9 comments

nike zoom huarache 2k4 kobe bryant look see sample 1 Nike Zoom Huarache 2k4 Kobe Bryant Look See Sample

Kobe Bryant is so strongly connected with the Nike Zoom Huarache 2K4 that some consider it the ‘Zoom Kobe 0′. Here’s one of several colorways created for the Black Mamba, a sample in white that would be for home games with Lakers accents, except instead of purple, these go royal blue. These 2003 look-see samples further stand out from the pack of Huarache 2K4s by replacing the storied series’ swirling logo with an 8 ball-ish insignia referring to his number for the first ten NBA seasons. Check out this rarity in more images after the jump and let us know how they compare to other Kobe Zoom Huaraches we’ve seen over the years.
