With Dwyane Wade officially exiting the house that Michael built, it didn’t take very long for Li-Ning and Wade to make their connection known. The preview shown comes from the Instagram of Flash himself, with the ominous caption of #10/10, a possible allusion to this being his 10th season in the NBA, or perhaps even an earlier than expected release date. Right off the bat, we see ‘WADE’ and a unique W-shaped lacing system, so clearly Li-Ning had something prepared for the superstar. Click through with us to check out the first ever shot from the newly minted partnership between Dwyane Wade and Li-Ning and let us know in the comments below how you think these will compare to Wade’s now extinct lineup of Jordan Brand models.

Dwyane Wade Joins Li-Ning

dwyane wade li ning Dwyane Wade Joins Li Ning

Roughly one month ago a report of a potential split between Jordan Brand and its purported top-level athlete/representative Dwyane Wade created some interesting discussion among our readers. Wade is indeed one of the star athletes of the entire NBA and certainly one of the few multi-Championship All-Stars that are still active in the game, but in Wade’s case, his star status both on and off the court didn’t translate into major sales numbers or anything remotely close to the standards of the Air Jordan legacy. Even in Sneaker News’ recent Jordan Brand Holiday 2012/Spring 2013 preview, anything remotely ‘Wade’ wasn’t in sight, which pretty much said what needed to be said without words. In any case, Wade’s contract with the brand that started in 2009 has seen its inevitable end, and it is now confirmed by current Li-Ning brand endorsee Evan Turner of the Philadelphia Sixers that Dwyane Wade has indeed joined Chinese athletic brand Li-Ning.

While no break-up is ever worth a celebration, this business decision looks to benefit both sides; the Fly Wade series experienced mediocre-at-best sales and perhaps didn’t justify his annual salary (one that would’ve needed to be raised or been in at the same rate in order to keep him), but the flipside may reveal that Wade is likely getting a generous endorsement contract as well as major marketing potential in China, where NBA stars are as heavily praised as they are in the States. It’s a move that gives Wade what he’s looking for (more international fame and relevance and more dollars) while allowing Jordan Brand a ‘fresh start’ of sorts with either a new line of performance basketball footwear or maybe even another signature athlete down the line. Your thoughts on Wade’s decision to jump to Li-Ning? Any suggestions as to who can step up and be Jordan Brand’s third guy?

KENLU LiNing Decade Camo Conquer Collaboration 8 570x381 KENLU x Li Ning Conquer Decade Camo

It’s been a while since we gave you an update on Chinese upstart Li-Ning, but the brand has been hard at work pushing their unorthodox designs in an attempt to carve out a lane amongst the majors of basketball footwear. Collabo models are always a big step in curating a brand for the sneakerhead set, and although our stateside readers may not be familiar with the partner here, Kenlu is one of the bigger online sneaker outlets for the Chinese market. This team up in celebration of their tenth anniversary sees the Conquer model get a digital camo peppered with plus signs, dubbed ‘decade camo’. The special detailing continues throughout the body of the sneaker, with the various ‘Kenlu’ hits and the swappable ankle patches making this Li-Ning release truly unique. Hit the jump for a more in depth view and let us know what you think of the KENLU x Li-Ning Conquer ‘Decade Camo’.

li ning yu shuai banpo se iii 07 Li Ning Yu Shuai Banpo Special Edition III

Chinese upstart Li-Ning is doing its best to make a mark in the sneaker world, dropping a special edition release of their Yu Shuai Banpo III inspired by the heritage designs of historical Chinese art. This caramel colored shoe comes in a variety of materials, with suede, leather, and velvet all finding their way on to the varied upper. This unique basketball shoe comes with a breathable upper, displayed by the holes lining the midfoot section, and a nice strap up top to complement the unconventional lacing system. Li-Ning certainly isn’t losing any points for originality on this one, but is it a shoe you could see yourself in? Let us know in the comments if you like what you see, and keep reading to get a better look at this special edition Yu Shuai Banpo III. via: sina.

Li-Ning ‘Big Shamrock’ Shaquille O’neal Finals PE

li ning big shamrock shaq finals pe 06 Li Ning Big Shamrock Shaquille Oneal Finals PE

Shaquille O’neal announced his retirement yesterday, giving his fans the first-hand message through a TwitVid. It was by no means an official press conference, but Shaq is a man who makes firm statements and does what he can to stick by them. The four-time NBA champion and one-time MVP (a number that some argue should be greater) leaves behind a career filled with utter low-post dominance and unparalleled charisma. Beginning his career with the Orlando Magic, Shaq spent his final season with the Boston Celtics, adopting the ‘Big Shamrock’ moniker, and had the Celtics reached the NBA Finals, a healthy Shaq would have worn this Li-Ning PE called the’Big Shamrock’, featuring a white/green/dark grey colorway and a Superman x Shamrock logo on the upper ankle of the shoe. Unfortunately, Shaq never got a opportunity to wear these PEs and no longer will he get to lace up sneakers on an NBA court (barring an improbable comeback), but something tells us his TwitVid isn’t the last of Shaquille O’neal (Shaq and Barkley hosting NBA on TNT?). Check out Shaq’s PE after the jump and let us know what your favorite all-time Shaq moment is. via sina.

Li-Ning MIX

March 12th, 2011 by | No comments

20110309225650531 570x380 Li Ning MIX

Li-Ning has made their name here in the States with a combination of savvy marketing and wild aesthetics and this latest model presents the Chinese shoemaker with a chance to nail both.  The Li-Ning MIX is something like Nike Presto and DiamondFLEX technologies combined, but instead of some kind of hybrid trunner, these take the mashup theme even further by allowing you to disassemble the shoe into its constituent bootie, sole and cage components.  Presumably, you could swap out different pairs to make your own unique colorways, though we can’t help but think it’d be dope were they to offer the option to purchase the parts individually.  Click through to see more of the Li-Ning MIX and let us know how you feel about one of the wildest sneaker designs we’ve seen here on Sneaker News, maybe ever.  via Dunk
