In honor of both Steph Curry’s birthday and the universally recognized Pi Day, Under Armour had a surprise drop of the brand new UA Curry V. Dubbed the “Pi Day” colorway, only 314 units were produced and sold out quickly after the unannounced reveal. While Steph was unable to play in last night’s game due to an ankle injury suffered last week, he was seen promoting his next signature court side.
Curry’s connection to Pi goes beyond his birthday, as they are both anomalies within their respective fields – Pi being a mathematical equation that cannot be solved, and Curry being an impossible-to-guard threat from behind the three point line. In terms of the Curry 5, its circular construction is built from heel to toe, framing the 90-degree angle of the shoe on the baby-face assassin’s foot. On this debut colorway, 3.14 appears on the aglets of the laces, while the Pi symbol is woven into the knit of the sneaker. Finally, an exclusively designed shoe box will cary the Pi number sequence – matching the sneaker’s outsole – accompanies the offering.
For those of you that missed out on the initial release, pairs are expected to drop again in a month on April 14th for $130 USD. In the meantime, check out a detailed look at the sneakers below and if you cannot wait, pick up a pair today on eBay.
