Michael Le Though met with a small bit of contention at release, the New Balance 990v5 has seen its fair share of time in the spotlight thanks to vibrant corner store colorways from retailer size? and mismatched toolings thanks to the Daiki-helmed Engineered Garments. The Boston-based brand is not without their own share of neutral schemes, however, as they’ve fitted it with the classic grey arrangement at debut and are now set to give it its first triple black makeover. Despite being singularly toned, each accent comes through thanks to ever-slight deviation in shade: stark blacks comprise the majority of the palette across the pig suede overlays while base layers of mesh create the illusion of gray thanks to its subtle sheen. Sole units lie just a notch down on the spectrum sitting closer to the metallic overlays hardshell and tinted “N” logo.
