Brands with the innovative resources as Nike are responsible for making dreams a reality. Such was the case with the creation of Adaptive Fit, the first “self-lacing” yet laceless mechanism that allowed for hands-free tightening and loosening of sneakers a la the Nike Mag. It was first brought onto the basketball court last January with the Adapt BB, and today the brand finally introduces the next iteration – the Adapt BB 2.0.
Designed by Ben Nethongkome (Kyrie 6, Kyrie 5, etc.), the Adapt BB 2.0 improves upon the 1.0 in several ways. The shoes now feature fore-foot Zoom (the 1.0 just used Cushlon), the midsole stack height was reconfigured for better heel-to-toe movement, the detailing on the shoe has greatly improved, and most importantly, the shoe is easier to put on (the Adapt BB 1.0, despite its beauty, was a challenge to get on feet).
Nike confirms an official release date of Sunday, February 16th with an MSRP of $400; Ja Morant of the Grizzlies debuted the model on January 20th, while A’ja Wilson of the Las Vegas Aces will wear the model at the start of the WNBA season.
UPDATE (03/19/2020):
The Nike Adapt BB 2.0 is launching overseas with European chargers on March 21st.
