Michael Le Deconstruction was all the rage only a few years ago, and icons such as Virgil Abloh as well as Chitose Abe have made such a style their signature. But with these releases getting crazier and crazier with time, pairs from the reserved side of Nike’s N.354 series are deservedly receiving a bit more of the spotlight. Released to a relatively high praise, the Daybreak Type was just one of these silhouettes as it delivered the famed retro aesthetic once again though with a newly applied modern filter.
Far distinct from the prior colorways, the latest bears a patchwork arrangement that reminds of the brand’s signature “What The” styling. Faded yellow suedes outfit the toe cap, wrapping above baby blue leathers whose immediate neighbors complement in color but not fabrication. These matching denim panels construct the eye stays from the lateral to the vamp, though they’re immediately stopped by a brighter pink canvas along the medial side. Tongues tint to a typical vintage finish, accenting understated alongside the white mesh that runs against the base of the entire shoe. Elsewhere, vibrant Swooshes deliver a two-toned palette — stamping with alternating outlines and base prints of infrared and orange — while bright greens and saturated blues cover the lining and heel wrap, respectively.
