Although he’s been out of the league for 12 years now, Scottie Pippen and the legacy he left on the basketball floor will forever be remembered. Aside from the six championships he helped bring to the Windy City alongside the great Michael Jordan, the former do-it-all NBA legend is also widely praised for his contributions to the Olympic “Dream Team”. The Nike basketball shoe he popularized during this era, the Air More Uptempo, is already notorious for its actual Olympic-themed offering, but now Beaverton is fashioning the sneaker in a way that solely celebrates Pippen himself.
For this kids-friendly makeup, Nike directly nods to the basketball star by embroidering “8”, his uniform number when he suited up for the USA, onto its heels. Elsewhere on this minimally-designed makeup, the base uppers, sole units, and pebbled foreground “AIR” lettering all come cowled in stark black, and are accompanied by golden trim — which possibly represent their 1st place gold medals — that borders the oversized side wall branding, as well as natural white Swooshes atop the toe tips, heels, and tread. Take a peek at more photos here, and be on the lookout for these to hit Nike.com and select retailers in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere in Nike news, the Air Raid OG is expected to make a return soon.
