Anthony Edwards’ star keeps getting brighter and brighter. At just 23 years old, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard is a 2X All-Star, All-NBA select, and following Saturday’s USA vs France matchup in Paris, an Olympic gold medalist.
He also owns a sneaker of the year candidate in the Anthony Edwards 1, and in honor of USA’s victory, the Three Stripes brand gifted their signature athlete a special gold-clad player edition. The shoes were unveiled to Ant-Man during an Olympics afterparty hosted by adidas, with other brand-sponsored athletes in tow.
The outer shell comes doused in metallic gold, while an icy clear gum sole and silver toe make for more special touches. As seen here via images posted by adidas, the special delivery came in a gold briefcase.
Notably, there’s a bit of shade being thrown around in adidas land. American track star Noah Lyles, who made the infamous “champions of what?” remark in regard to NBA Finals winners, was reportedly slighted by receiving an invite to the adidas AE1 unveiling last year, later alluding the point that as a six time world champion, he should have his own signature shoes, too.
Edwards’ gold medal AE1 PE isn’t expected to release at the time of this writing, but know that this page as well as our Sneaker Release Dates hub will display all the most recent information if things change. In any case, enjoy detailed images of Edwards and his special shoes below.
