The Philippines boasts one of the fastest-growing basketball markets on the planet, and shoe brands have fully taken notice. ANTA is a company that knows a thing or two about meteoritic rises, continuing to swipe marketshare from players like Nike and adidas through innovative tech and a growing portfolio of signature talent. Taking aim at Filipino hoopers, the Chinese brand recently released a country-exclusive ANTA KAI 1 dubbed “Taiji.”

Official images showcase a white base with intricate detailing, complemented by a dark purple, grey, and tan midsole underfoot. The word “Taiji” has multiple interpretations, but most commonly refers to a balanced state of opposing forces (think yin and yang). All told, the delivery does well to embrace ANTA’s Chinese roots as well as the mindfullness often championed by Kyrie Irving shoes.
