Asics

ASICS is a shoe brand based in Kobe, Japan. While they produce footwear across many sports categories, they are most recognized for their retro models such as the GEL-Lyte 3, GEL-Saga, GEL-Kayano 5, and more. ASICS Sportstyle is the lifestyle division of the brand; they are responsible for the limited edition collaborations with boutiques (KITH, Concepts, etc.) and designers (Kiko Kostadinov, Vivienne Westwood, etc.).

As we’ve transitioned into an era of sneakers where tech-runners and early 2000s styles have more sway than ever, ASICS has been both a clear benefactor and a primary driver of that trend. The brand’s work with British designer Kiko Kostadinov can’t be understated in that regard, but in-house designs like the multi-edition GEL-Kayano line have caught on as genuine standouts in a crowded field.

In 2024, the ASICS isn’t taking their foot off the gas, and all indications point to them being a major player with their continued retro-futuristic excellence. Models like the AWAKE-assisted ASICS GEL-NYC and the all-new ASICS GEL-Terrain present as two tentpole silhouettes for the brand as the year draws on.
