Despite the recent controversy surrounding the leaked pairs of the Kobe 6 “Mamba Mentality”, it appears that Nike still has the green light to release some Kobe Bryant footwear. On June 11th, Nike will bring back to original white, del sol, and black colorway otherwise regarded as the “POP” aka the “Playoff Pack”. The Black Mamba originally debuted this colorway during the Playoffs of the 2011 season, thus the straightforward moniker that still lives to this day. The actual “Del Sol” Kobe 6 Protro is the black-based colorway, which basically acts an “Away” component to these.
Although Nike and the Kobe Bryant estate have yet to announce a new deal since its expiration in April, it’s clear that there will still be some Kobe sneaker releases on the release slate. In addition to this pair, there’s also PJ Tucker’s recently revealed PE as well as the special edition made for the 2021 EYBL circuit that may potentially release somewhere down the line. However, it’s not confirmed whether or not there will be more Kobe drops beyond the Kobe 6 “POP” and it all hinges on the future of the partnership between the Kobe Bryant estate and the Swoosh.
These will be at select Nike Basketball retailers and boutiques on June 11th for $180; see the store list ahead. In other Nike Basketball news, check out the newly unveiled LeBron 19 in the two Space Jam themed colorways.
