To celebrate its long history in Queens, the borough that’s held the U.S. Open since 1978, Extra Butter has teamed up with K-Swiss to deliver a tennis-inspired footwear and apparel capsule.
Unsurprisingly, the collaboration’s headliner is the K-Swiss Classic LX silhouette, which was originally designed for the sport in 1966. Extra Butter’s premium take allows for the first all-leather tennis shoe’s DNA to shine by opting for a two-tone, but muted hairy suede across the upper. Medial sides indulge in the darker of the two asymmetrical shades, nodding to how players scuff them during lateral movement across the court. The storied boutique’s “EB” branding is embossed onto each heel, and accompanied by a custom “Forest Hills” graphic. An “aged” sole unit and jacquard ribboning on the spine further harken back to yesteryear, while an updated memory foam tennis-felt sock-liner delivers modern comfort.
Accompanying t-shirts and the shoes’ packaging also receive Extra Butter’s master touch, with the latter featuring antique brass grommets, satin fabric in lieu of tissue paper and a fabric dust bag to match the Classic LX’s upper.

Elsewhere in the sneaker world, the Air Jordan 5 “Shattered Backboard” arrives on October 2nd.
