On the stage of COMME des GARÇONS‘ AW21 runway, eyes were glued to the collaborative Nike Foamposite, which made history as it tweaked the silhouette’s iconic mold. But that was not all the Japanese label previewed, as they also gave glimpses of forthcoming Salomons and the return of the sneaker heel.
No stranger to the athletic made feminine, COMME des GARÇONS has created heels alongside Nike in the past (think: the Machomai boot). Here, with their take on the Premier, the two have toned it down just a bit, integrating the sole and upper much more seamlessly. Height, too, has been made more manageable, the thickened heel itself only a few inches off the ground. Above, the upper’s construction has been angled ever-so-slightly to match its bottom, while the paneling and Swoosh retain the soccer cleat’s quilt-like minimalism in both a black and white colorway.
