What first comes off as a pair of Playoff 8’s ends up actually being a rarely seen sample; similar colorways except for the yellow Jumpman logo laying on a strange basketball and hoop embroidery. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of time when shrink wrapping couldn’t be a fail-proof barrier for these precious samples. Seeing an OG pair begin to crumble is a terrible feeling that most veteran sneakerheads have unfortunately succumbed to in the past few years- an experience that newer cats have yet to encounter (unless they’ve been lucky enough to scoop up OG pairs already) but they will in a few years when their recent retro purchases become victims to time. It’s especially traumatic when a crumbling pair is quite rare or even a sample; like that of this case. But we at Sneaker News see it as an opportunity for viewers to get a look into the anatomy of one of the most popular basketball shoes of all time. We hope this becomes yet another cautionary suggestion to look into better storage systems for your valuable collection. via Kenlu
