The Reebok BB 4000 II From 1989 Returns On October 28th

The Reebok BB 4000 II From 1989 Returns On October 28th

Reebok has recently been revisiting some of its most beloved signature athlete basketball sneakers from decades past, breathing new life into Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson and Shawn Kemp’s once-trusted companions. To further cement itself as a company with a heritage in the hoops space, the Massachusetts-based brand has prepped the launch of the BB 400 II, a lifestyle sneaker based in court DNA.

Born in the 1980s, the BB series took hoops-inspired design, colors and performance and repackaged it for a more casual consumer. As one of the silhouettes with the most crossover appeal from hardwood to concrete, the BB 4000 II delivered handfuls of team-friendly colorways throughout 1989 and the subsequent years. For its relaunch, the lifestyle proposition has dressed up in ensembles nodding to three important moments, shoes and more: the “White/Green” pair harkens back to the Boston Celtics’ ’86 NBA Playoff run, and honors the brand’s U.S. headquarters; the “White/Grey/Red” BB 4000 II draws inspiration from the Reebok Pump Twilight Zone from ’90; and the “Black/White/Orange” option calls back to Dee Brown’s famous “no look” dunk in the Pump Omni Zone II in ’91.

“Not many brands can genuinely play in both sport and lifestyle like Reebok,” commented Reebok CEO Todd Krinsky in an official press release. “At Reebok, style is classic – it’s synonymous with heritage and authenticity. With the revival of BB 4000 II, we’re excited to bring to market a shoe that embodies who we are, balancing performance roots with vintage style, while evolving our rich basketball archive for today’s consumer.”

Enjoy official images of all three launch pairs ahead, and find the shoes via reebok.com staring on Friday, October 28th, for $90 USD each.
