Popularized by Timberland’s 6″ Work Boot, the “Wheat” aka “Butters” colors have become a mainstay in street fashion culture, appearing on athletic sneakers on countless occasions. It now appears that the industry is moving toward a lesser-known yet equally significant combo of shades for the cold weather.
Much like how the wheat yellow is to the 6″ Boot, the sublime pairing of olive green and brown is the flagship color of Timberland’s Field Boot. A popular pick in the Big Apple in the late 1990s, that colorway was crowned the “Beef & Broccoli” by New Yorkers as it matched the hues of a common take-out dish from Chinese take-out joints. We’ve seen it appear on a variety of sneakers lately (particularly New Balance), but Nike is cooking up their own recipe on this Air Max 1 for Spring 2024.
The tasty execution sees a rich brown suede on the mudguard, quarter overlay, and heel, while the olive green makes way on the nylon toe-box, leather Swoosh, nylon ankle, and interior lining. A solid black covers the midsole and laces for that rugged winter-ready appeal.
Again, these are anticipated to drop Spring 2024 at Nike retailers.
In other Swoosh updates, the Jordan 4 “Olive” is dropping in just a few days.
