New Balance has made inroads in the online gaming community in recent years, joining forces with gaming platform Rival in 2023 in an effort to procure a younger generation of sneaker fanatics. As the NBA All-Star Weekend draws near, the Boston brand looks to continue its initiative through the debut of a “Gamer Tag” pack under its performance basketball banner.
Three court staples make an appearance in the soon to be released collection: The TWO WXY v4, Hesi Low, and newly unveiled Fresh Foam BB v2. All three models boast bright, monotone designs reminiscent of retro consoles and renowned games from the 90s and early 2000s, leaving room for interpretation as to what the specific colors and design cues represent.
The TWO WXY v4 boasts a “Neo Flame” colorway while the Hesi Low and Fresh Foam BB v2 sport shades of “Kelly Green” and “Electric Indigo,” respectively. All three silhouettes are packed with subtle gaming inspired details, the most notable being “press start” TPU buttons, 8-bit-inspired textures, and multicolored outsoles featuring familiar shades of yellow, blue, and red seen across gaming collections.
