The shimmering classic colorway hits the lifestyle offshoot.

“Patent Bred” Jumps From OG High To The Jordan Nu Retro 1

As iconic as it is iterated on by Nike, the Air Jordan 1 has spawned more spinoff models than any other Mike-worn retro. Amid golf, comfort and handcrafted models, the Jordan Nu Retro 1 stands as the premier “lifestyle” offering using that 1985 DNA. The newest pair slides onto the sked heavily utilizing a recent hyped pair as its foundation.

While some of those aforementioned models put slight spins on the Jordan 1 to fit their new purpose, the Jordan Nu Retro 1 is possibly the most totally transformative. A slice of clear rubber splits the sole about a quarter of the way through, segmented Wings panels break up the side panel and the heel cup strikes much higher than on any ’85 release. Really, the main things that these share with the primary model are the toebox and the overall shape. Regardless of those structural changes, that red, patent leather toebox makes these instantly recognizable as being based off the Patent Bred Jordan 1 High.

Importantly, the lifestyle take on Mike’s first shoes has hit on color combos from their mainline siblings plenty of times before. The adornment in question here follows a Jordan Nu Retro 1 “Shattered Backboard” from the end of last year and a Jordan Nu Retro 1 “Chicago” just months prior.

Eschewing a clear release date, these “Patent Bred” Nu 1s will likely roll out to retailers in the coming months. Anticipate a $105 retail price as they do.
