Original article posted April 1st, 2024: The Nike Dunk resurgence of 2019/2020 saw the return of several long-archived treatments, but the “Ugly Duckling” pack stands a cut above the rest. The collection initially released back in 2001 as a CO.JP exclusive and is largely regarded as one of the best sportswear Dunk trios of all time, with “Plum,” Ceramic,” and “Veneer” colorways lending a premium feel with all-suede uppers.
All three looks returned in 2020 to much applause, and now they’re back for another go-round in 2024 as we delve deeper into spring. The Plum Dunk Low marked the pack’s official re-emergence in late March, and now the “Veneer” colorway appears primed for a comeback on April 11th. Official images reveal true original treatments without modification, with brown, purple, and green suede elements clashing to produce a distinctive mix in true CO.JP fashion.
Notably, all “Ugly Duckling” pairs will be marked with a $115 price tag in 2024, a non-insignificant hike from the Dunk’s $100 mark back in 2020.
