Though Nike is perpetually facing towards the future, it’d be doing SB fans a disservice to entirely disregard the past. With the fandom committed to the point of delineating between certain box eras, the influence of past Dunk releases certainly still looms large. One of the imprint’s latest formulations is taking a page out from SBs past, with the Nike SB Vertebrae adopting a “Bison” adjacent look.
The structural differences between the Vertebrae and Dunk Low models make a 1-to-1 replication nigh impossible, but the combination of rich browns and bright red is a dead ringer for that iconic 2003 edition. Coffee tones are tinted throughout the upper, most striking in rich suede at the heel at forefoot, as well as a classy leather strip down the tongue. Though the red accents are conservatively deployed, they peek through effectively on that same tongue section and by centering the design on the medial Swoosh.
The Nike SB Vertebrae “Bison” is likely to drop in the coming weeks, commanding an $85 price tag upon arrival. Enjoy an official image gallery just ahead.
Staying in Beaverton, official images of the Nike KD 4 “Nerf” arrived ahead of their July retro.
