WHERE TO BUY

Nike Air Max Plus Drift

SKU: FD4290-401
RETAIL PRICE: $185
RELEASE DATE: Jul 23, 2024

Original article posted June 10th, 2024: The Nike Air Max Plus, and by extension the Air Max Plus Drift, will always be associated with sunset. As one of the most iconic colorways in the line that Tinker Hatfield spawned, nature-inspired gradients have a habit of regularly cropping up on models far and wide. As the Plus Drift continues an impressive first year on the shelves, it’s revisiting that narrative territory, spotlighting nocturnal tones in “Ashen Slate.”

That blue/gray hue establishes the foundation up top, painting the extensions of the TPU waves that define the retooled Air Max Plus Drift model. That dark neutral is matched by navy notes on the sockliner and tongue, reflecting the inky look of a night sky. The main attraction, however, is underneath, a neon gradient from that begins with “Hyper Pink,” continues through “Vivid Purple” and ends with “Hyper Royal,” a transposition of the sunet theme maybe an hour or two later.

While it’d be bold to project success similar to that iconic AMP formulation for this colorway, we can say it strikes all the right aesthetic notes and speaks to why these nature themes continue to paint Sean McDowell’s design and its progeny. You can find this upcoming colorway of the Nike Air Max Plus Drift on Nike.com and select retailers beginning this Fall 2024 for $185.

In other Air Max news, the HUF Air Max 1 is officially scheduled to return beginning on June 15th.
