Dominic Ciambrone, better known as custom sneaker extraordinaire SURGEON, has kept quite busy since news of the lawsuit by Nike first unfolded in July. Today, his official partnership with Cadillac is announced, which includes a bespoke shoe capsule inspired by Cadillac’s portfolio of EV vehicles and a custom Air Jordan 1 made for Nike athlete Francis Tiafoe.
Each of the four models corresponds to a specific model of the Cadillac EV line-up — the LYRIQ, the OPTIQ, the ESCALADE IQ, and the CELESTIQ. Working closely with Cadillac designers, the SURGEON crafted each pair with each car’s unique design in mind, incorporating the finer touch details such as the leather interiors, the pattern on the upholstery, and the exterior paint colors. The entire collection will be on display at the Cadillac Showroom at the 2024 US Open Fan Experience in Queens, NY. Additionally, Cadillac will release just five pairs of each style (20 in total) on CadillacSignature.com.
The fifth shoe of this collaboration is a custom pair of Air Jordan 1 Lows made exclusively for Cadillac brand ambassador Francis Tiafoe aka Big Foe, who is also under contract with Nike. This pair is made for Tiafoe alone and will not be made available to the public. Paraphrasing Nike’s official statement regarding the lawsuit back in July: the Swoosh is cool with the Surgeon making 1-of-1s for Nike brand athletes, but selling them for profit is not.
