Travel boards worldwide spend years crafting catchy taglines, but few are able to touch the unofficial motto of Naples: “Vir Napule E Po Muore.” A claim that Naples’ natural is so overwhelming, nothing you could possibly encounter afterwards would be worth your time. Does the Nike Air Max Plus dedicated to that concept match that beauty? We’ll leave that up to you, but Beaverton is indeed rolling out a version of the Tn chiefly inspired by Partenope.
The waterscape vistas of the city are the true guiding light, overcoming the nylon base layer and appearing in a soothing gradient at the center of the midsole. Pasted on top of that synthetic foundation are pixelated notes of white & metallic gold, equally calling to mind reflections of the ocean, the vibrant architecture of the Italian city and its nightlife. In a clever bit of synergy, the tongue tag reflects the typical yellow & red that paints the Tn branding, but also mirrors the flag of Naples, a half & half split between the same hues.
While this is the most concerted ode to Italy, it’s worth noting that it’s not the only one we’ve seen in recent memory. The yet-unreleased One Block Down Air Max Plus collection showcased similar tonality in one of its colorways, and the Italian imprint of course brought some inherent flair related to their homeland.
In any event, we’re expecting the Nike Air Max Plus “Naples” to land this September, retailing for $185. Get a full sense of what to expect via the official gallery below.
