The rookie year of the ANTA KAI 1 has been a smash success for the brand and Irving, and it seems they’re only getting started. With the public release of the ANTA KAI 1 Speed already looming for this season, we’re getting a fresh look at the lifestyle arm of the KAI conglomerate. #11 gave an official look at the KAI Tribe at the WayMaker Men’s Summit.
Consistent with our first look at the silhouette at the start of summer, the Tribe utilizes the same geometric design language of the KAI 1 proper, but removes the toolsy performance that makes them an on-court proposition. A rubber cupsole, a suede mudguard and overlays and and textured wide laces illustrate the model’s skate shoe influence, with the padded collar only enhancing that overall lean Notably, this earthy black & brown colorway wasn’t included in that initial preview, but given the official nature of this announcement, it’s possible that it’ll be the first edition to hit the market.
Along with the KAI Tribe, Irving also brought out the ANTA KAI 1 “Artist on Court,” already a very notable shoe for launching his enterprise with the brand, and the aforementioned KAI 1 Speed, with select retailers tabbing that offshoot model for an end of September release.
