Updated November 12th, 2024: Official images of the Nike LeBron 22 “Blacklight” have just been added. These confirm that general release pairs are true to the LeBron-worn first look edition, but also showcase reflective 3M that paints the lower half of the shoe. Outside of that new detail, a copper-like mini Swoosh at the midfoot, jet black suede on the upper and red string outlining the Swoosh remain the standout features. The LeBron 22 “Blacklight” is expected to release on December 6th, retailing for $180.

Original article published November 12th, 2024: A new NBA season makes for a busy few weeks in our corner of the world. Signature athletes across the industry are showcasing brands’ latest & greatest offerings, and even as silhouettes like the Nike Ja 2, Book 1 or Anthony Edwards 1 get some renewed focus, there aren’t many models that can surpass the King. As the Nike LeBron 22 eyes public introduction at the top of November, James himself sported a never-before-seen colorway in the Lakers’ pre-season warm ups.
In contrast to the LeBron 22 “Moonlight” that hit the newswire a few days ago, this “Blacklight” edition fittingly turns out the lights entirely, dominated by black nubuck across the upper. In truth, despite its official nickname, this shoe is a perfect match for the Lake Show’s “Hollywood Nights” jerseys, a purple jewel logo in the tongue and golden accents on the mini midsole Swoosh executing LA’s trademark colors. The rope outline that wraps the cut-out Swoosh bridges the gap between those accent shades, revealing textured grey underneath that drives home the nocturnal theme that defines this colorway.
The aesthetics are one thing, but as Nike’s tentpole athlete, LeBron gets a slew of tech infused into his latest signature. Spelled out with a flip-open brochure that arrives alongside each pair, the LeBron 22 sports two doses of Zoom propulsion, a top loaded shank plate and remodeled traction underfoot, applied on a split outsole visible in these on-court shots.
The Nike LeBron 22 “Blacklight” releases on December 6th in adult ($180) & GS sizing ($140.)
