Updated October 18th, 2024: Martine Rose will collaborate with Nike on an Air Max model in 2025, but it won’t be the Air Max Craze as initially reported by Complex.
The following article was published on October 16th, 2024:
Nike will continue to revive archived Air Max models with 2001’s Air Max Craze, set to return to shelves in 2025. According to Brendan Dunne of Complex, British designer Martine Rose will play a role in the model’s bring-back effort with a collaboration next fall.
The multi-faceted menswear designer first linked up with Nike in 2018 on the Air Monarch before releasing a handful of Shox projects years later. Sneakerheads might recognize her work through Kendrick Lamar, who accepted his 2023 Grammy award in purple and teal Martine Rose Shox mules.
There’s little known about her next Nike project this far out, but the images referenced below provide a detailed look at the model in question. The Air Max Craze features a zippered shroud akin to the Air Max Sunder and an open heel, aligning perfectly with the aesthetics of Rose’s past collabs. Neoprene accounts for the bulk of the construction, with this example colorway featuring a futuristic, wavy grid pattern. Again; the images referenced here show an original colorway from 2001, not the upcoming Martine Rose collab.
We’ve got plenty left to unpack as the Air Max Craze starts re-emerging from the archives, so stick with us for all the latest images and release details.
