Supra built its brand on the back of the Skytop, a modern classic that ranks near the top of the list of the last decade’s most influential designs. It’s super-high cut set off a race to the top with higher and higher cuts and eventually the monstrously tall Skytop II. But for the Supra Skytop III, the crown brand goes in a completely different direction. This is a complete midtop here, but the high-pitched ankle helps to bring together the anachronistic design. If the first Skytop was a trendsetter and a total original, the Skytop III is great for its mastery of the simulacra; a design so perfect that it almost appears to hint at a hundred classics and yet maintains a fresh appeal that’s vital and current.
