Custom sneakers have been slowly, but not quietly, growing from a small niche of sneaker culture to a a true art form. Amongst the leaders of sneaker customizers is Akalazy, or lazy, who recently got to shine on a collaboration with fellow customizer SBTG. Lazy has been, for a long time, known among sneaker conossiuers as one of the best people to go to for dope and creative reinventions of popular sneakers like the Nike Dunk.
Lazy’s most recent independent project, which drops tomorrow, is dubbed the Lazy Savage Denim Dunk High. Even though this may be able to go without saying, it is important to take notice of the extra-fine attention to detail on the shoe from the stitching, to the application of the details on the different sections of the denim. The fabric of the shoe consists of a darker denim along most of the upper, except for the top of the toe-box and the panel around the ankle/heel that both feature a lighter denim.
Beyond the fresh use of denim on these Dunks, Lazy takes it a step further with a never-before-seen take on the Nike Swoosh; Removing the Swoosh completely and replacing it with a threaded image of a Swoosh sorrounded by a stitched zig-zag design. You will see that the stitching around the Swoosh on the right shoe is red, while the stitching in the same place on the left shoe is white. White stitching is pre-dominantly used around the upper to piece together the denim pieces with the addition of a tasteful use of red stitching on the very back of the mid-panel. What is also interesting is the use of rips on top of the toe-box, which may have a deeper meaning than ripped denim.
These, unlike most of Lazy’s sneakers which are 1 of 1s, will be available in a relatively less limited quantity of 12 pairs. No word on the exact price, but expect to pay upwards of $500 for these dope, hand-made kicks. The Lazy Savage Denim Dunk High will be available exclusively on Lazy’s website.
