The Air Jordan line has existed since 1985. Over the last 38 years, Michael Jordan’s signature sneakers have transcended the hardwood, becoming gear for everyday life. A newly-rumored Air Jordan 5 “Archaeo Brown” is set to deliver another rugged option for the cold come Fall 2024.
Clad in “Fire Red/Black/Sail” in addition to the aforementioned brown hue, the unreleased retro continues a trend previously seen with “Archaeo Brown” makeovers of both the Air Jordan 14 and Air Jordan 3 from October 2021 and 2022, respectively. No word has been disclosed about the pair’s “Winterized” build (vacuum-molded uppers), but its color scheme suggests the sneaker will take some notes from Danner’s range of waterproof boots, footwear that widely popularized the brown-and-red look.
Early mock-ups of the Jordan 5 “Archaeo Brown” depict uppers crafted from nubuck, although traditional leather could also don the titular hue on final versions. Mesh windows at the profiles opt for an off white finish that works in-tandem with semi-translucent traction zones underfoot for a “Neo-vintage” aesthetic. Remaining components across the top and bottom halves nod to the silhouette’s original color schemes, which complemented #23’s Chicago Bulls uniforms well. “Black” backdrops on the tongue and midsole allow for “Fire Red” flair to revel in the spotlight. Jumpman logos are expected on the spine instead of “Nike Air” branding, further cementing the series within the lifestyle space.
Stay tuned for official Nike SNKRS launch details as 2024 gets going. The “Archaeo Brown” 5s should retail for $210 USD.
