If you think the Michael Jordan-Kobe Bryant comparisons will end after the Black Mamba’s Hall of Fame career comes to a close, then just wait until the next multi-championship winning shooting guard comes around (or until LeBron gets into the fistful-of-rings echelon). Kobe won the 1997 NBA Slam Dunk Contest in the EQT Elevation, but it was the adidas Top Ten 2000 in which a teenage Mamba first posed as the Jumpman, then met His Airness himself face-up in the All-Star Game. This new Top Ten 2000 colorway mixes together a bit of the Lakers look (those OG Top Ten 2000s were white/navy anyway, not exactly a perfect match for the purple and gold) with the greys and an Elephant-like print a la Air Jordan III (the model in which Mike made his indelible poster of a free throw line dunk). This design offers a reminder of how close MJ was to signing with Three Stripes and how different history has been with both he and KB on Team Swoosh during their primes, and you can see more photos after the jump below.
