Penny Hardaway was positioned to be Nike’s next big signature superstar before Shaq left Orlando and injuries riddled Anfernee’s career. What was left was a formidable run of signatures including his unforgettable championing of the Nike Air Foamposite One. For the unfamiliar, Penny’s Royal colorway of the Foamposite wasn’t up to par with NBA uniform standards at the time as it didn’t have the prerequisite amount of black on the otherwise monochromatic royal blue upper. So during the ’97 playoffs when Penny was garnering attention for putting up back-to-back 40 point games to will the Magic and Heat to a deciding Game 5, the man took a felt tip marker and colored in tiger-like stripes on the shoe’s upper to meet the NBA’s demands. That PE is now officially releasing alongside the new Nike Penny 6, a shoe that draws from the rich Penny lineage as well while adding new tech advancements like Dyanmic Flywire and Megafuse into the mix. We’ll update you as soon as we get a release date on the latest Penny Pack in the near future, but in the meantime you can check out a brand new set of images below.
