3D printing technology is the future of the sneaker industry and adidas is one of the first brands to jump on the futuristic bandwagon with the adidas Futurecraft. The silhouette will definitely remind you of 2015’s classic adidas Ultra Boost – one of our favorite sneakers of the year – as a combination of mesh and Primeknit come together on the upper for a breathable and form-fit construction that’s sure to improve stability as much as comfort. But the real draw here is where the Futurecraft gets its name from – the 3D printed midsole and outsole unit. This opportunity offers a completely individual cushion and support system for every runner’s unique foot structure. Once the Futurecraft project is set in motion, adidas plans on offering an in-store program where customers run on a treadmill to track their support needs then recieve a completely custom outsole unit based on their foot needs. There’s no word yet on when this pair will be available, but Spring 2016 looks like the target. Check out some detailed photos of the upcoming Futurecraft 3D below including some awesome ceramic customs by selected artists that are sure to surprise.
