Michael Le A fusion of their most supportive of legs, Air and React, Nike is set to bring about one of their most innovative cushioning systems thus far: Joyride. As fitting a moniker as any, the performance-geared kit boasts a composition of TPE beads in the thousands. Allowing for a customized user experience, the soft spheres are scattered across various zones of the footbed, expanding at all angles as it molds to the shape of your foot while accommodating to your natural gait. After an exhausting design process, the choice of TPE was a choice made after 150 test runs, with the first silhouette to see widespread use being the runner-focused Joyride Run Flyknit.
Lifestyle elements are, of course, present, with colorways racking up to a total of five in tones vibrant and neutral. The main pièce de résistance, however, is quite simple by comparison to the swatch of pink, red, blue, and black, opting instead for a plain white with the sole unit left to do much of the talking. The knit uppers are bereft of color though packaged in a framing technical with overlays few; accents contrast in their choice of bright oranges and pastel blues with the cool tone seeing more rampant use as it dyes the walls of the entire bottom save for the translucent windows into the compartment of beads.
If you’re interested in picking up the debut model for yourself, they will be available for Nike Members on July 25 with a global release slated for August 15th. More silhouettes will accompany later on, including the Joyride NSW and NSW Setter — the latter taking part in ALYX’s SS20 runway show — as well as the NSW Optik and Kids Nova, which are women’s and kids’ exclusives, respectively.
